Connection problems with the iPhone 4?
The most recent iPhone model has just been released by Apple to an desperately anticipating hoard of followers. Nevertheless, a short while after people got their hands on it, reports of malfunctioning started to appear. More precisely a lot of the new users claimed that they experience connectivity issues when they hold the phone in a particular way. And to Apple’s dismay, these statements were not singular cases and it turned out to be an malfunctioning crisis with virtually all the phones exhibiting the same symptoms.
The situation arises specially when the phone is held in a specific way using the left hand, creating the reception abilities of the inbuilt antenna to decrease significantly. In case the iPhone is put on a table for instance, it shows five full lines of signal but after it’s picked up and held in the palm, the range of lines drops to three, two and even zero. The issue of the apple iphone 4g is caused by the two external antennas which loose sensitivity when covered.
All the other earlier iPhone models have had internal antennas and this issue never occurred as yet. It seems that the connection problem is unique to the iPhone 4. However, Apple has released a statement saying that this challenge happens in all mobile phones available on the market if they are touched near the receiving antenna. Whether this is only a PR move form the communication giant, it isn’t sure, but it’s a certainty that very little other phones have the same issue when held near the receiving antenna.
The solution suggested both by Apple and by iphone users is to buy a plastic phone cover that may actually isolate the hand form the exterior antennas. By doing this, no matter how somebody touches the unit, the signal is not interrupted, or at best the results are not that visible. Although this is only an improvised solution, it does not solve the core issues and it seems that Apple doesn’t really care about the situation.
Regardless, this will definitely remain a connection problem unique to the iPhone 4 and people will remember it for years to come. It shall be seen how much will this stain affect Apple’s future share of the market. For many, an incident such as the connection issue is simply sufficient to send them towards other spartphone choices, other people however love the iPhone so much that they are prepared to go down with the ship if required.
